Fruitcake Fridays: Remember When?
In light of the horrific, creepy, train wreck that was Miley Cyrus’ performance at the VMA’s I thought I would reminisce about the good old days when life was simpler and young stars didn’t hump foam fingers and teddy bears.
When music and music videos were all angry and rebellious in the old fashioned way like this:
When faced with oppression the kid’s response is, “I WANNA ROCK!” YES! Tell him little man. You are NOT gonna take it. You are going to be a big bad rock star and he can suck it! How cool is his crimped hair? They are just so mad and yet they still manage to turn their anger into something productive. This one’s for you, Miley Cyrus (and your tongue). “We’re not gonna take it, ANYMOOOORE!”.
When you totally wanted a My Buddy or a Kid Sister and you didn’t associate them with being stabbed to death?
When you knew all the words to the Punky Brewster theme song and secretly wanted to be Punky Brewster and it didn’t occur to you that she was homeless? Maybe that 2nd part was just me…
You knew who these people were and even now you can hear the theme song in your head and may or may not have taped yourself singing it on cassette tape? “Believe it or not, I’m walking on air I never thought I could feel so freeeeeeeee!”
You were on team Ponch or Jon and they were just plain old policemen, not wolves and vampires? (For the record, I was on team Ponch, and it might be kind of cool to see him as a vampire).
The most technologically advanced piece of equipment you had was one of these:
But then Swatch went all nuts and made them huge like this:
Ah, the good old days.
What are some memories that make you happy?
